American Heroes Air Show Lands at Hansen Dam

Buckle up for high-flying excitement when the nation’s premier aviation event devoted exclusively to helicopters lands in the San Fernando Valley.

Since 1993, this admission-free event has been educating the Southern California community as to the unique capabilities and dynamic role of helicopters in law enforcement, fire service, public safety, national defense and homeland security. With aircraft from local, regional, state and Federal / DOD agencies, guests are treated to an up-close look at why these aircraft and their crews are on the front line of public safety and community service.

The event also offers a unique glimpse into the design history of rotary-wing aviation with the many aircraft on static display. Explore the evolution of helicopters from the classic Bell-47 helicopter and the elegant lines and Hi-Tech muscle of the “Firehawk” helicopter from the L.A. County Fire Department. It’s a unique opportunity to learn why these aircraft are the first tool out of the toolbox in times of natural disaster, rescue operations or homeland security threats and why their crews are the Heroes your family can really look up to!

Helicopters will be on static display for your crew to inspect plus demonstrations of airborne capabilities with hoist rescues, precision water drops and helicopter rides available for a modest fee.

Plus, Breaking News ! … have your camera ready and meet many of the Southland’s well-known celebrity / media pilots and news reporters plus get an up-close look at the aircraft and people that are often first on-scene for traffic and news reports.

More than just an Air Show

The American Heroes Air Show is the nation’s premier admission-free, helicopter-only aviation event held at sites from coast-to-coast and dedicated to educating the public about the unique capabilities of helicopters in law enforcement, fire service, public / private EMS, homeland defense and national security. Produced by the American Heroes Aviation Network, the event also includes the CODE3 Career Fair which delivers recruiting teams from law enforcement, public safety, government service and military that are on-scene to profile their mission and provide information on their selection, hiring, training and application processes. Guests with an eye toward public safety careers can learn more about Criminal Justice / Public Safety / Emergency Preparedness classes from a host of local schools that are on-site.

The Heroes event also offers an annual favorite, the “Rollin’ to the Rescue” presentation of vintage police, fire and emergency vehicles as they roll into the event and set up for static display throughout the day. These lovingly restored public safety vehicles will roll into the event site with full lights and sirens at 10 a.m.

The SAR SITE1 event element introduces the community to many of the finest local Search & Rescue teams from mountain, urban, swiftwater, canine and Combat / SAR organizations. Check out technical rope rescue gear and learn how to join the action as a reserve volunteer with a local Search & Rescue team.

A long tradition at American Heroes Air Shows around the country, collectible event trading cards will be available and free in limited quantities to early-bird event arrivals. These popular trading cards feature photos of participating aircraft plus flight performance and mission profiles.
