Flabob Airport Cafe to Open Sept. 16

The Flabob Airport Cafe will open for business on Monday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 a.m.

It will be open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The management promises great food along with excellent service! Pilots, neighbors and friends are invited to come by and take a look, enjoy warm hospitality and great breakfast and lunch selections.

Flabob Airport is the home of The Tom Wathen Center, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to education through aviation.  Founder Tom Wathen believes that aviation is a powerful stimulus to learning, especially the vital STEM subjects: science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In line with this mission, the Billie L. Le Clair Cadet Squadron 31 of the Civil Air Patrol recently announced its relocation to Flabob Airport. “We welcome the Civil Air Patrol and it’s Commander, Chris Mattson, and we’re looking forward to a long and successful partnership. Together we believe we can use the fascination of flight to inspire lifelong learning,” said Bill Sawin, President and CEO of the Tom Wathen Center.

The first CAP meeting at Flabob Airport will be Oct. 7 from 7-9:30 p.m. Also, the unit is planning on hosting an open house on Nov. 9 to coincide with Veteran’s Day.

A not-to-be missed event at Flabob is set for Saturday, Sept. 28: The Flabob Flying Circus is coming to town… make that coming to the Airport! The fun begin with a pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m. at the Cafe. The Aerial Cavalcade begins at 10 a.m. and ends around 2.

For more details about any of the programs or events at the Airport, check the website: www.flabobairport.org. The Airport is located at 4130 Mennes Ave. in Riverside, Calif. Tel: 951-683-2309.
