Sundair partners with Kimbo to bring Coffee to passengers

In-flight innovation as German airline becomes first to embrace new in-cup product for freshly ground Arabica coffee.

Airline passengers on German airline Sundair have become the first to experience an in-flight catering innovation this summer after the airline partnered with leading coffee manufacturer Kimbo on the launch of its new KIMBO In-Cup, which enables airlines and other travel media to easily offer passengers freshly ground filter rather than instant coffee.

The KIMBO In-Cup has been developed by Kimbo UK after research with travel channel operators. It offers freshly ground 100% Arabica filtered coffee in a cup using an innovative lid with integrated filter. The expertise of the company’s Neapolitan roasters means that coffee beans from some of the best origins, roasted to perfection, are now available in-flight.

A dose of ground Kimbo coffee is sealed with aluminum foil to guarantee freshness in every single cup and preserve all the organoleptic properties. Once the film has been removed, the cup can be easily filled with hot water, the exclusive lid with filter applied, making it ready to be served. Milk and sugar can be added without the need for the lid to be removed.

The In-Cup is now available "on board" on all Sundair flights. The airline transports over 600,000 passengers to 30 different destinations each year between the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Canary Islands, as well as numerous internal flights in Germany and direct ones to Beirut.

The innovation is the result of a partnership between the London-based team at Kimbo UK; manufacturing partner RTMBruPac, the British in-cup drinks specialist for many leading global brands, and BB-inflight GmbH Distribution, which supplies passenger comfort equipment and products to airlines and rail operators directly from its warehouse in Cologne.

Marcos Rossello, CEO of Sundair, says:

"Sundair chose Kimbo because it is synonymous with quality: the aromatic flavor of this fresh blend is simply the best, with pleasant aromas and a discreet bitterness, perfect to enjoy while flying”.

“The partnership with Sundair is a very important opportunity for us” adds Luca Piccini, Director of International Business Unit at Kimbo, “because it gives us the possibility of offering a distinctive product and collaborating with an extraordinary company both for its vision and in terms of targets. Thanks to its presence in the main Italian and European airports and distribution in over 100 countries, today Kimbo is the perfect coffee choice before, after and now, even during the flight!”

Kimbo was founded in 1963 in Naples and is today present with its products in 100 countries worldwide.

Sundair is an airline founded in 2016 with headquarters in Stralsund, Germany, and an operational office not far from the main airport of Berlin. SUNDAIR operates tourist flights to the most beautiful destinations in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Canary Islands. Departures are from Berlin-Brandenburg, Kassel and Dresden, Bremen and Lübeck. In addition to holiday flights, the airline operates special services, charters and scheduled flights to the Lebanese capital, Beirut. SUNDAIR's fleet consists of nine aircraft. These are five A320 and four A319 aircraft.
