We Pause to Remember
Monday, May 31, 2021 is Memorial Day.
Planes of Fame Air Museum asks that on this day we all take a moment and reflect on the freedoms we all enjoy here in the United States and that we recognize that those freedoms were made possible through the sacrifices of veterans who gave their lives on our behalf.
From the Revolutionary War to today, over 645,000 veterans have paid the ultimate sacrifice in combat. And while they are worthy of our honor each and every day, let us use Monday, May 31, 2021 as the special day that is set aside to reflect and recognize all that we owe each of them.
For those wishing to share Memorial Day with others, the Museum will be open Monday from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
Lockheed P-38 "Lightning" to fly on Saturday, June 5, 2021
Join the Planes of Fame Museum for an outdoor event on Saturday, June 5, 2021 when the Museum's Lockheed P-38 "Lightning" is featured for a Flying Demo. Museum doors open at 10:00am. The P-38 will be on display for up-close viewing and photographs until 11:30am.
From bomber escort to air-to-air combatant in the European Theater to long-range fighter-bomber in the Pacific Theater, the P-38 was a fast and formidable machine that played a key role in many of the important conflicts during the Second World War.
Of the 10,037 P-38 "Lightnings" that were built from 1939 to 1945, only a handful remain. This is your opportunity to see an historic aircraft take flight. Museum Doors will open at 10:00am and a brief outdoor presentation will begin at 11:45am followed by engine start and taxi at noon. The "Lightning" will then fly directly over the Museum for twenty minutes.
Special discounted admission is still in effect. Make your plans now to join us on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
