HELICOPTER MUSEUM CELEBRATES WORLD HELICOPTER DAY ON AUGUST 20

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC), will celebrate the wonderful world of rotorcraft aviation during its annual World Helicopter Day on Sunday, August 20, from noon until 5 p.m.

Highlighting the day will be helicopter rides for an extra fee. They will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis from 12:30 until 3:30 p.m.

“This is the last helicopter ride day of the year,” explained AHMEC's Executive Director Paul Kahan. “We wanted kids returning to school to have a final chance at taking to the skies in a rotary wing aircraft. It’s a great adventure for people of all ages!”

Additionally, the Chester County Radio Control Club will demonstrate some of their radio-controlled model aircraft. The group, founded in 1971 as a chartered chapter of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, District 3, will fly their home-built models, including airplanes, helicopters, drones, and gliders in a field adjacent the museum.

Museum admission costs $15.00 for adults, $14.00 for seniors, students, and children ages 2 to 12, $13.00 for Veterans, and free for children under age 2.

Contact AHMEC at 610-436-9600 or see the website at www.helicoptermuseum.org for more information.

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center, located at 1220 American Boulevard, West Chester, is the nation’s premier aviation museum devoted exclusively to helicopters. Established in 1996, the nonprofit organization collects, restores, and displays rotary-wing aircraft, including over 35 civilian and military helicopters, autogyros, and convertiplanes.
